Old site...
|
Well it turns out that it was easier fixing some of the broken bits and pieces with the old site than skinning the new one. I've therefore made the executive decision to leave the old site active for now, shelving the new look for the forseeable future (or until coda/jeopardy decide to make us a new pretty skin for a decent CMS).
There's still a fair few bits and pieces to do, and I'll try and make daily changes to fix the broken stuff. If you do spot anything that isn't working, or have any suggestions, chuck it in the comments on this item (if comments are working, heh).
Oh, and welcome to the new people joining us for QuakeLive (or who haven't had a 'WELCOME!' message on this site before...)

Greetings EK'ers
|
The site should be mostly back working now with a few minor errors following an upgrade of the server and install of the dreaded PHP5. If you notice any problems please point them out. Likewise the logins should now be working, and if you cannot remember your password get in contact with Djuhn or myself.
In the world of Quake most EK'ers nowadays have limited time to play, although you may still find a few of us on Q3 servers occasionally. We are, however, looking to the Quakelive ( http://www.quakelive.com for beta test signup ) release as a possibility, although we will have to see what that is like in the Beta or when it is done. Perhaps we will even get time to use our Mad EK Tactics(TM) once again. Nonetheless happy fragging!

Welcome back!
After a fairly lengthy period of time sat on my hard drive, the EK site has been resurrected. Some things are a little broken at the minute, but I'm sure they'll either be fixed or will remain b0rked in the near future.
The last news post in the database was in December 2003, and what a dull period for gaming it's been in the interim. The release of Q4 piqued all our interests for a while, until we realised it just wasn't as good as any of the predecessors in the Quake series.
So EK remain dormant, its members approaching middle age faster than a bunny-hop around e4m3. The majority of us are around on IRC (#l33t on Quakenet, as usual the springboard to the SUPERDUPERMEMBERSONLYRAWGIVESYOUHEAD other IRC channel) at least some point during the week. Come and say hello if you want :)
Please note: We'll have to reset passwords for anyone wanting to login due to changes in the way the database handles things (3 year old code, ahem). Get in touch via IRC (irc.quakenet.org channel #l33t - look for djuhn, raw or blowfish) or email at the address above.

EK.ET being removed
|
Unfortunately, since nobody seems to care for ET anymore and not one of our team has come forth with the desire to drive it forward, we will shut down that part of EK. Thanks to all that played and thanks for the fun while it lasted.
What will happen to the multigaming functionality of the site is that it will also play host tc's site (currently on fragged.org), so only 1 site would have to be maintained between the 2 clans (we are not merging). Expect to see some changes here by the end of the week.
fragged.org is to become a generic gaming news site.

Final week of Jolt
|
We took a bit of a beating by pzz in the final week of Jolt last Thursday, we had to rearrange the game due to the Poland v UK game clashing with it (which never happened in the end) and come game time only myself turned up from jay/sd/prod/z3/raw leaving us a bit short, the game was played in the end with me/war18/coda/dawg and as expected got a bit of a fisting, thanks to everyone who showed up last minute.
Very disapointing that the season was to end this way given i felt we could have given pzz a run for their money with 4 of the team that have played most games this season, again we finish runners up for the 4th time, will we ever win it?!
More promising news is that tomorrow we take on lemmings effect in the open cup premier group final at 21 cet, gl us.

Opencup semi final!
|
We just got back from playing squad damage for a place in the Clanbase Opencup Premier Division final, who we eventually beat 3-2 with 3 coaches!!
Not surprisingly the server search was over in about 10 minutes, both teams settling on gs.net, ek chose dm6 & dm7, whereas sqd chose dm14tmp and dm6.
Our map was first and we made way with dm6, a really close battle right throughout with sqd doing there best to hold rail, we eventually managed to take it and ra and edged out a 15 or so frag lead, this didn’t prove enough and going into the last minute sqd closed us down to 2 frags but couldn’t quite finish it off, ek win 133-131.
Onto sqd’s map of dm14, our coach had now gone missing and we were struggling to find a replacement, blowfish jumped on the server and did his best, however without him on team speak it was always going to be tough, sqd held the map really well and we had little in the way of any sync’d attacks, in the end they ran out easy winners with a score of 72-116.
Third coach of the evening now, Kilem from unr/le jumped on team speak and made all the difference, keeping us together and so on. We got the better of the spawns and opened up an early 20 frag lead which we maintained for the entire map, sqd playing more cautious than cessing so a pretty quiet game other than quads, 129-94 to us.
Dm6 made its second appearance of the night however this time it didn’t quite go to plan, we opted to go for rail over ra and it kind of back fired, losing most quads to a well organised sqd and us paying no attention to the coach at all, sqd won 106-155.
Deciding map now and since sqd had more frags they eliminated first, I knew what maps we didn’t want and which we did, and amazingly we got it, we got rid of ospdm15 and osp6, and it came down to osp5 and cpm4 with sqd to pick, amazingly they decided to eliminate osp5 which had they done any research on us at all, would have known it’s a big favourite of ours.
Onto the map, it was close right the way through, no more than 10-15 frags apart, a few shabby quads nearly let sqd back in but with the last minute or two to go, we left the last quad and held high RA and managed to take the map 107-97.
So that takes us into our first Opencup final where we will play Lemmings Effect, who bizarrely enough our coach for the last 3 maps plays for, the game will be scheduled soon.
The match report can be found here and a brief interview with myself with the head supervisor katteh can be found here.

cs
|
After some uncertainty over the ek v cs fixture (various reasons) we set about our game with cs. First map was dm14, of which we controlled quite comfortably for the 20 minutes, winning 163-104.
And onto the most unpopular map of 2003, ospzzdm15rc3! A horific start saw us about -1 20 down but managed to pull back and lead with just over 5 mins remaining, cs then pushed a bit harder and managed to win the map 82-84, fuck face (djuhn) making a star appearance.
ek: unu(dm14)djuhn(osp15)/jay/z3/raw + malc coaching
Iron have since been removed from Jolt so our game with them no longer needs to be played, next Sunday we play pzz, a win for us should make us champions, pzz only needing a draw.
