GOT OIL?
|
It’s been a while now since I’ve posted anything on here; now the sites back up and running what better way to kick it off with news that we’re going to a bit more active again, news which I hope makes Dr Hexagons day.
I had a chat with reaper and as of next season we’re back in joltq3dml div 1 where we left off at the end of season 2. Shane is going to be playing with us again which is great news & djuhn should be back from Preston by the time its due to restart so we could be looking at a full strength team, ctf master deputy dwag I still haven’t had chance to speak to but I’m sure he will be prepared to take time out from his busy capping schedule to squeeze a game or two in with us, also z3on (boom) has started rumours that he is also up for a few games, big up to the Irish isdn bomber.
In other news I would like to take this opportunity to say Liverpool are a bunch of lucky cunts who couldn’t win an auction without bribing the seller, so fuck knows how you managed it on Sunday.

EK in QW Irish Cup
|
This happened a while ago, but now with more than half the clan kitted out ready to play quakeworld, it's worth a mention :-
The site http://www.quake.ie/comments.asp?item=1542 shows the current signup list with a mixture of clans of various levels of skill, including, erm, ourselves. Hard to say how much of q3 teamplay might be transferable, especially since our most active qw'er is essentially a dueller.
It does however promise to be a lot of fun, moreover since the first time around in netquake/quakeworld we did not use voice comms so much, which could be seen as half the fun.
I've not seen any definate dates yet for the start of the cup, but with the signups ending in mid-feb, I'd imagine it was soon.
I've also stuck this on the forum to discuss here.

GL z3on
|
This weekend, z3on's attending Darkside LAN V over the water. Goodness knows how his game will handle a 100ms drop in ping, but I suspect he'll fare very well indeed. You go girl!
Hopefully there'll be some coverage on the Darkside webpage, which does claim the map list is dm4, t4 and t2. Maybe z3on can convince them that ztn does actually have merits :)
Update: Spoke to z3on earlier... seems what happened to Saten at i7 has struck the clan twice. Anyone got a spare PSU? :)

rummaged

I was rummaging around the ek archives for the forum avatars to alter (jeopardy's original images needed tweaking to suit the new black theme of the forum) when I found this:
All I can say is "LoL!!1!!!"
While one of those in the original image found the piece witty, the other did not. In order to account for his privacy, he has been removed from the image using a highly sophisticated technique.

The DNS seems to have propagated pretty much everywhere, so I've fiddled with the templates so everything points to elitekillers.net rather than the IP, meaning coda can put this box back to normal... :) Cheers Jimmy.
A few minor tweaks to the site over the weekend and I think we should be back in business. Woop!

EK
|
For clarification:
We're idling.
We are not inactive (we all play q3 still).
We are not 'dead', at least not by my definition.
Nobody with delusions of grandeur and a personality disorder* (plus a tasty nylon uniform) had anything to do with any decisions made by EK ;)

We just finished out week 2 Jolt DML games against icf. After being away all weekend and not even thinking about Q3, I was pretty pleased to see I'd probably not be needed for the game, but after I arrived home and idled in IRC for a bit it became clear we had 3 players including myself. Fortunately, z3on arrived and was persuaded out of inactivity, and we set about the all-slpb team of icf with 2 broadbanders (sd and myself) and 2 isdners (dawg and z3on). First map was dm14, especially tricky without a coach. With z3on and stegat pinging 150 in fights, it became clear that we'd have to out-think them. Fortunately (as revealed later) this turned out to be easier than expected, with icf seemingly content to sit in RA until powerups, only pushing to lower RL late on in the game (where we promptly capitalised by taking RA off them). A more conservative game than we normally play, with a win 91-75.
For DM7, we had called "no cess!" as 20ms machine gun vs 150ms machine gun wouldn't work. icf got the better of the spawns and took RA, leaving us to concentrate on quad and MH, which we did for most of the game. Holding MH while icf insisted on trying to take it off us paid off well, as our players at quad/ya/rl hoovered up spawn kills, much to the delight of >>.k3v. What had been a good game turned a little sour towards the end of dm7 when a couple of the icf players made statements you wouldn't expect of a clan who pride themselves on not taking quake too seriously. Presumably the players involved felt disappointed in not taking any points from the game, and as the speed of their wits is matched only by the latency of z3on's connection, they mistakenly thought the best avenue for their anger was EK. Perhaps they should have just booted their cats up the ass.
I digress. We won DM7 114-85, a nice team performance. "GG!" to the friendlier members of icf, and a big "HAHA U SUCK U PINGY FUCKWITS" to the anencephalic members.

Our final game of group F was played tonight versus Italian clan, “Night”
The server search was long and painful, eventually we settled on a QuakeZero server in Germany which was surprisingly quite even for a clanbase encounter between UK & Italy.
Our choice of map needs no introduction, again ek choosing cpm4. A shitty start for us saw us throw away some easy frags early on but it didn’t take us long to settle down and pretty much lock RA, Quad & some good spells at YA.
Clan Night chose ospdm5 which we are growing in confidence on, rail and quad areas exchanged hands for the first few minutes until my FFS YOU CUNTS GET TO RAIL paid off for us to take a reasonably comfortable win.
The win tonight confirms our first place in Group F of the Clanbase Open Cup and sends us into the playoffs.

Yawn

Tonight we played lsr in the first week of joltq3dml.
First map was ospdm5, slow game resulting in a pretty low scoring ospdm5, we held rail and quad all game, ek win 105-68.
Second map was ospdm6, never a favourite for ek but again it didn’t make much difference. To be fair to lsr they got the best spawns on the map to start, I think we fell 15 behind and lost the first quad but rather than try extend their lead they took it in turns to crouch in the corner at pg, 132-83 win.
Next week its 'Team ICF' on dm14 & dm7.
Edited by raw .. happy now :)
