Jolt vs d5a
|
Seem to have missed our Jolt game (postponed on Sunday to yesterday at 9:30) with d5a. Match reports take too long to write (and I want to go to bed), so here's the stats instead...

Comedy moment of the match was dawg 999ing, redialling then reconnecting before his previous connection timed out. The admin helped us along by kicking... coda, rather than the 999 client. Very amusing :)

BWDML 2B Winners!
|
Tonight we played our final game of the season & probably the most difficult against French clan MVC, all we needed from this game was a draw to win the division and take promotion (unless QL beat nV by a rather substantial margin).
The first map was pro-q3dm6, we are quite often unpredictable on this map and again struggled somewhat against a decent mvc side, the lead passing to each clan every other frag left it teams are tied going into the final five minutes, even though we had a bit of a nightmare TP wise we managed to edge out a few frag lead to take the map 119-97 to secure ourselves a place in division 1.
Next map was one of my favourites dm7, again the lead jumping hands every 2 minutes, to slow us down a little blowfish timed out just before quad who was then replaced by dawg only for sd to have to leave mid way through who was then replaced by blowfish! Eventually ping prevailed as mvc kept reminding us and we won a close game 116-101.
EK: raw / djuhn / berk / sd / fish
MVC: winz / boss / joe / sola
With the QL & nV game being a possible upset for us should we have drawn with mvc ill give it a quick mention, nV put up half a fight on pro-qdm6 but lost 104-151 only to stage a comeback on dm7 and take the map in sudden death 111-110, sending QL into the playoffs and pushing mvc into third place.
Last but not least surg has ordered cable and will be with us sometime over the next week or two, so lock your windows & plug in your airfresheners as THE CUNT IS BACK!.

Ping wins!
|
nD postponed with us last week with ping issues, and the replay game was scheduled tonight. With the available regular team tonight being two ISDNers, it was perhaps a touch ironic we should be playing on the two traditionally pingy maps, cpm4 and pro-dm6. After an uphill struggle against dawg and z3on's 200ms pink ping spikes, we took cpm4 from nD 87-77 although I reckon that was only on teamplay.
It became apparent that the cessy pro-dm6 was going to be an even bigger struggle, and with us 20 frags down with 5 mins to go we relented and subbed out an ISDNer for an unpracticed but slpb coach. Closing the gap to tie and even take the lead before losing the last quad and the game 118-113 proved most definitely that ping, in the main, wins.
No disrespect to nD, who did what they needed to do to get a map off us. ADSL + 3 working leased lines > 1 LL, 1 cable + 2 ISDN. The whole situation has thrown up some important lessons for ek to learn, and we thank nD and Mindphuck for that.

BWDML Week 6
|
Tonight saw us take on French clan uG (mb) on q3md7 & ospdm6.
After the ips were called for our games, ek connected to the server and had a 10 minute wait before uG showed up, the admin then allowed uG a further 6-7 minutes to warmup, which I have to say was quite annoying, eeatha proving he needs to spend a bit more time learning to read rather than quaking as it clearly says in the rules “Any team not ready to start the match within approximately 5 minutes of the announced match time will have a default loss awarded to them” eventually we started.
The first map played was q3dm7, first RA went to uG who quickly tried to lock it before the first quad, but we managed to take it back and the quad to follow which helped us lock down a fair amount of the map for several minutes. Sadly rather than try take some of the map back, uG-pingu(y) decided it would be better to make lame comments after every death which was annoying but quite funny at the same time, we played dm7 very well and a pretty good overall performance from ek for a change :p final score 150-63 to ek.
Next map was ospdm6, we had practiced this about 45 minutes earlier and had a close game with nD on it and we looked pretty dodgy as usual. RA changed hands for the first minute or so with both clans cessing, we locked RA for the next 5 mins then lost it again after losing a quad, we finally settled down and broke uG’s attempt at a comeback and took control of RA and had some decent spells at rail too, 117-84.
Tomorrow we play our postponed game versus nD on cpm4 & pro-q3dm6 who are also our usual practice partners who I am told lost 2 close games tonight v MvC.

CB Q3 DM Opencup
|
Clanbase today announced the launch of their Autumn Cups, giving it very little decision i decided given our activeness this season and run of a pretty much stable form we should sign up, so i demanded fish sign ek up for our first venture into a euro CB cup.
So far 82 clans have signed up so its by no means going to be a short run cup, last seasons winners were gzd who get an auto spot in the DM Eurocup so will not be playing this time around.
UK clans dc, rp and wz have so far signed up so we have a few familiar faces.
The map pool for the competition is cpm4, dm14tmp, ospdm5, ospdm6, dm7tmp & pro-q3dm6, its a pretty much standard map pool going of the available DM maps for q3 but not having the worry of playing something wank like poqdm3 is quite a relief.
A copy of the rules as posted by CB can be found here
if your interested likewise the signed up clans here.

EK Update
|
Our mid week BWDML game versus nD was postponed this week due to nD having connection problems, we kindly agreed to pp and are due to play them this coming Thursday. Our week 6 game in BWDML this week sees us up against uG (formerly mb) of France, which i wouldnt expect to be the easiest of games, we play them on q3dm7 & ospdm6, q3dm7 i would favour us on as were pretty strong on it however ospdm6 is a different story all together.
Jolt q3dml week 2 took place tonight on ospdm5 & ospdm6.
First up was ospdm6, we took RA from the start and never really looked like losing it, WaR made a few attempts on quad and won 1 or 2 but didnt ever seem to get into the game at all and just seemed happy enough keeping the frag difference down, 114-57 to ek.
Next was the incredibly dull ospdm5, again we got in at rail early on and never looked to be challenged for it, war made a few rushes for quad but that was about the only time we'd see them other than crouched in a corner somewhere, ek win 89-51, ggs war.

Jolt Week 1
|
With our Jolt cup win still fresh in our minds, we took on LSR in the first week of our first season in Jolt's deathmatch league. Coda returned from a period of absence from TDM to line up with raw, dawg and carn (the nose-breaker) with myself doing a bad impression of a coach. Spells of locking down the lower RL or the LG as well as the RA, combined with us getting most of the powerups led to a win on dm14 by 106-61. On pro-dm6, we nosed ahead after coda took quad with RA, PG and LG and cleared the map of enemies. The brief lockdown afterwards (raw getting six spawn frags in a row at one point) combined with carn's evil LG aim was enough to give us the victory 158-83.
GG LSR, good luck with the rest of the league.

Jolt Cup Winners!
|
We have just got back from playing 2 very good games against good friends Fury!
There was a bit of uncertainty tonight on who we would be playing in the finals. The semi-final game between QL and FURY was due to take place at 8pm, but QL were unable to make this game but did not let Jolt or FURY know and left it 'til the last minute, meaning the only real option was to give FURY the default win and a free place in the final.
The first map up was cpm4, and as much as dawg hates it I'm a new beliver of late and consider it to be one of ek's better maps. The game started really close with RA & quads changing hands, we eventualy pulled out a lead and held onto it to win the map 132-117.
Dm8tmp was supposed to be the next map however it wasnt on the server so instead it was decided we play dm14tmp.
We got a very good start and quickly secured RA before the first run of powerups: taking the first BS and quad helped us get an early lead which we never looked like losing, although FURY fought hard and managed to narrow our lead down to 30. It wasn't enough, and we won 129-88, making us the Jolt cup winners!
EK: raw / dawg / sd / war18
FURY: tom / perch / ko / paven / corran (sub)
