'Scuse me a sec. Need to clean my face.
Thanks.
Great games tonight in Barrysworld versus old rivals XPd. We thought they would be 'ard games (ah, nostalgia), but everyone had a great time. Amusing Roger Wilco banter about domestic appliances and plenty of references to spunk made for an amusing time.
The results: cpm4: 95-68 and dm6: 123-87.
Mystic Meg may not be out of a job yet :-)~

Match update
|
Catchup time on results:
BWDML: lost both maps to Clockers (96-79 dm8, 116-76 dm14). Their superior tactics won through, and despite a semi-credible dm8 game we absolutely sucked on dm14.
WPDML: seemed like it was going to be another default, but we eventually started a scrappy dm6 against Rx, winning comfortably 164-73. The 2nd map (q3ngiarena2) was a default win to us.
Special thanks this week to Gunzoids for being not only great opponents, but nice blokes as well (BW admins 0wn j00). The three maps we played showed a few holes in our tactics, and also that all EK members have an attention span of 40 minutes, where I think we played the most rubbish mexx1 ever (all credit to Gunzoids, who help the RA with style). dm6: 97-79 to us cpm4: 118-73 to us mexx1: 96-80 to them
Next week brings us XPd on cpm4 and dm6 in Barrysworld, and old rivals EA in Wireplay on cpm9 (!) and dm8 (!). We may be playing our Wireplay week 4 game against TP on Tuesday before the Barrysworld match versus XPd: the game should serve as a tasty starter for the main course, since we should be playing dm6 and ngiarena2. Bring it on!

New Computer!
|
Yesterday I finally accumulated all the necessary parts required to build a computer!
had initial problems with installing win 2k pro due to setting my two hards disks in RAID0 configuration and installing straight on to that - win 2k pro didn't see the hard disks - Thankfully I had a laptop and the ability to surf the internet. I was lucky enough to stumble upon a site had a file for download to fix the problem!
total installation was approximately 5 hours. Computer switched on first time and I put alot of thought into airflow aroung the case due to sticking in an athlon 1.33ghz CPU which heats up alot!
If anyone is in the market for a soundcard, I would seriously recommend the hercules XP gamer! I have had experience with soundblaster cards and the sonic vortex cards. This XP Game theater card has been the easiest to install and also has the best sound quality I have heard! I bought it for $129.00 dollars + PA tax @6.0%.
booted up quake 3 arena and enter com_maxfps 500 and cg_drawFPS 1
loaded up map q3dm17 and the fps hovered around 300fps. I have not tinkered around with the mother board and played around with the settings - I expect a 50% increase in performance by tinkering around with mobo and cpu settings and perhaps lower graphics settings. Full update to follow and step-by-step guide on how I built the system for those interested.

EK vs GOD
|
After a very bad start on q3dm6 with our side 999'ing and being killed in console-mode, we (jeopardy, z3on, saten and myself) started taking some control at around 20 frags down. Once things had settled down a bit we put some tactics into play and pulled back the lead. GOD played well (with 4 lpbs). Good team work guys. screenshot. A second map wasn't played as GOD were keen to leave the server. We await a rematch sometime :)

The price of having skillz (rofl)
|
I hope you people appreciate the amount of effort that I've put into these cartoons (semi-caricatures), cos my thumb hurts from holding a pen (but f*ck me my graphics tablet is the dogs!) This is 2 nights I have done all-nighters, ok last night was because I was writing an essay, went over the word limit a bit too. 2,000 word essay, I wrote 2,961 (inc. footnotes, references, bibliography and endnotes - so about 2,700 all said)
Anyway, tomorrow I will be posting Number 2 in the series, I won't say who he is (he's the only other one I've redrawn, that's who he is!), what I will say tho' is that he likes dropping Eggs. A not particularly cryptic clue there :/
Anyway, Blowfish will disappear tomorrow ("and I mean physically!!") because he's going to some exciting sounding instruments fair or something - enjoy Steve (lol). His cartoon will also disappear as well, so enjoy it why you can (actually it will only be replaced by a link so that it doesn't take up as much space).
Anyway, I am off to sleep till lunchtime, later.

EK Trading Card: Number 1 - [ek.blowfish]
|
The first in the series is a 24(?) year old Bristol born, black haired cheeky young chappie. Yes, that's right, the free-for-alling, Q3DM17ing, monkey spanker himself - our favourite Mechanical Engineer...

just noticed that the archive part of the news includes everyone's column updates too. Quite amusing to see EK news mixed in with, amongst others, my post about smilies and devil on about his new car. Gah, who made this shitty site anyway? ;-)

orbital
|
wow.
this evening me and a few friends decided to enter a little competition set over at www.loopz.co.uk to try and win a place on the guestlist to goto Radio 1's Orbital gig. It involved going over to a pub near Maida Vale and meeting a guy named steve (who runs the webby).
It was amusing enough trying to find this guy amongst the other 20-odd people looking for him. Well, we blagged two of us in and got to see an exclusive orbital gig to an audience of 80 (mostly bbc and media peeps). Free drinks, free t-shirts, and a wicked gig. Fucking brilliant.
And to top it off, i nicked their samples list off the stage after the gig >:) I tried to nick their funky torch-goggle things too but the tech guy stopped me :)
