servers
|
I have applied for server booking facilites with NGUK (www.netgames-uk.net) which should come in handy for friendlies so we dont get stuck for a server like tonight. BW's system of Teams where only admins can book servers is blx imo.
I enjoyed playing AT1, its fun being able to talk across RW and be heard :)
/me whips out the m4d vb sk1llz and gets to work on a RW pr0xy >:)

Victory over AT1 for EK
|
|
Tonight saw a game vs AT1, Rekun's former clan (used to be div2 ukccl, div1 modem league in ukccl, now division 4a). EK's lineup was Djuhn (lpb) and the rest of us on modems (Blowfish, z3on and Rekun) facing an all lpb AT1 side on dm6. A well controlled game resulted in another victory for EK, screenshot here. GG lads.

QuakeWorld resurgance slowed down? [src:ukgamer]
|
Earlier this year two titans of QuakeWorld, 4 Kings and the Quake Police Department said that they were interested in getting back into QuakeWorld again.... However it seems that the interest shown has fizzled out. If you take a look at #QPD (on Quakenet) it's mostly empty, and with the ECAL soon to start, and QPD not entered (Ving made reference to QPD taking part in the ECAL), it seems that the QPD will remain out of action. The QuakeWorld division of 4 Kings played a few games, with their last being against NoSkill (which they lost 2 maps to 0) over two weeks ago.

Wireplay DML vs PoQ">13 comment(s)
|
Blowfish, Z3on, Coda and myself just played two enjoyable games in the Wireplay league against PoQ, French ex-BW-division 1 blokes, including IRC mate Viag. A good win on the potluck map, mexx1, which is becoming a favourite of mine and a nicely controlled dm7 game. Well played Steve, Steve and Jimlad.

BW *Vs* Game
|
Last night saw the most recent meeting between Vs and EK. For this game we fielded one of our modem players and the newest recruit to EK, Z3on, who played very well considering it was his first game.
First game saw us play on dm14tmp, a map which Djuhn and myself had been playing for much of the weekend, trying out tactics vs nEo. My start to this game was comic. I successfully got first upper RL and red armour, making me most able to take on quad. The enemy had assembled there early and all four players were camping it there. So in I rushed along the main corridor, hit one of them on the way in, landed on quad perfectly, and with one rocket killed the other three in one shot :\ We held the ra for some time after, but lost it after a while due to a couple of mistakes. At this point we pulled back and made use of quad and the fact that Vs are do not play overly aggressively when in control. At this point we were 20 frags down so knew we had to firstly make real use of quad, and secondly get a first control back of RA. This we succeeded in doing and kept RA control with a few semi-effective quad rushes during the game. I seem to remember one good quad run at the end of the game. In the last couple of minutes we had lost RA, but pulled back and held quad for a short time, knowing all we had to do was keep together and avoid giving away frags.
After the first game we moved to cpm4 which we work well on. For much of the game we had a firm control of the RA. This has much more of an advantage of just being able to make use of the RA, the height advantage of attackers in this location helped us greatly, and our lead was never really challenged. Our quad rushes were again semi-effective, although a little predictable :| Something we need to work on. Nearing the last few minutes I had to leave early, but left the team in a firm control with a good frag difference. Apparently following this, the team apparently hit for a length of time practicing gestures, imho always a noble way to finish a game :)
Still waiting on the admin demo from BW, which should be interesting.
Tonight sees the wp game vs POQ, which hopefully will not be a default :)

Another Network League Movie [src:xsr]
|
Network League have just released another of their Gamer movies. This one is entitled 'Don't Mess with Gamers'. It's the most ridiculous concept I can imagine - placing items from Quake 3 in the real world - but at the same time it's somehow endearing.
Network League will be running an online Quake 3 tournament this month, with LAN finals to be held in London and $20,000 of prize money.
