After wildcarding the game on Thursday, NK failed to show up for the rescheduled game tonight, resulting in a default win for us :/

The Jolt season came to an end last night with the final postponed games being played. We finished the season 6th in division one - not too terrible considering the calibre of teams above us. Congratuations to Oxi (who has given ek a 'fighers' award here :P) and his minions for putting in the hard work running the league. WP Oxi!

2K/c58
|
Played on possibly the worst BW server so far this season, tonight a team of hastily assembled ek team was dragged away from the football to play our postponed game versus 2K.
Like a lot of games we've postponed in the past, this one smelt dirty. There was something Not Right about 2K, division whipping boys of the first few weeks of the season, taking a map of TS last week. When you consider, however, that they've b0rged a handful of ex-Eurocuppers, then things come into perspective.
We managed a draw, despite being outgunned completely. Rather uniquely for us, it was out powerupping on that POQ rehash that won the game for us.
I'm not sure what I think of 2K: they remind me a little of SLH many moons ago. They've either recruited smartly to strengthen their squad and twist the BWTDM division 2A on its head, or they've fucked up their clan with starry-eyed b0rging. Again, time will tell.

Fixture of the We(a)k
|
In what bigfoot dubbed fixture of the week last night we played Tortured Souls, unexpectedly it was another disappointingly German performance from another British clan.
First map was ospdm15rc3 and at that point I realised I hadn’t seen it before (other than poq), never mind. The map got underway with plenty of sk'ing from Aly and Juz to no benefit of there own really as we eventually opened up a lead with a couple of power up runs with both bs and quad, we were probably our own worst enemy on this map having never practiced it together before except in the form of poq but managed a win nonetheless, 85-59.
DM14 was next and all though I do like the map, if you’re playing clans with German tactics it’s really no fun and this is exactly how TS played it, wall for wall. Once we had gotten a secure hold of RA and rail we never lost it and managed to claim most battlesuits and half of the quads to leave us comfortable winners of 99-58.
GG's i guess and thanks to the dinosauric one for another fine admin performance, gwan oggie!
Tonight we play a real German clan in 2K.

Jolt finale
|
Our last game of the season, against almost-Eurocup clan nvr ended in a map apiece. DM7 was remarkably cessy for the most German mainland clan there is, so we took the map with a 20-odd frag margin.
Normal service was resumed on DM14, and despite some valient shooting round some corners, we left ourselves with too much to do, going down by a mere 7 frags.
In fairness to nvr, they did what was needed to earn a point and we certainly helped them with some untimely team damage. Also to come out of the game was that I am in actual fact all 120Hz and sd is all poshboy headphones.

Clanbase Week 2
|
Another game another German clan, this time they didn't hug walls (not to many anyway).
IBT were our opponents last night and a reasonably close affair it turned out to be.
We started off the server search at 7.30 and by 8.00 katteh forced the first server we tried (pzz), there reason for not wanting it was a player had a bad ping even though it was 40 and mine was at min 40-55, they replaced this player with someone else leaving the average pings almost even.
We chose the first map and decided on cpm4, after the initial cessing passed we pretty much had the map from a few mins in and built up a reasonable lead and managed to keep it throughout the game to take a comfortable win of 149-107.
At this point z3on had to go and so we were left a little short, fish called coda and he kindly subbed in for the bomber to play ibt's map choice of osp6.
The map started pretty badly and we were about 20-30 frags behind with only a few mins gone, ibt played it well and focused mainly on rail with or without RA control, we finally got settled in and got some control over RA and managed to extend it to rail and managed to tie the score going into the final minute however it wasn’t meant to be and all though we went frag for frag with the lead changing hands in the final seconds ibt managed to hang on to take it into a decider winning 139-142.
Map selection took place, we had the final choice and it was either dm14 or dm7.. dm14 v Germans? mmmk! At this point ant arrived and subbed in for coda.
Dm7 it was and probably our 2nd pick for a home map so i felt we could win this one and win it we did! ibt got the best of the initial spawns getting mega and ra + rail however an early quad fell to req and we never really looked back with a lot of map control with the majority of RAs and Megas + spells at RL ensured we took the match to win 2-1, final score 163-107.
Full match report can be viewed here, thanks malc for some nice coaching!
Next week we are scheduled to play Italian clan NK, gg's ibt.

2 game update.
Thursday saw us play a very german clan n5p, server search was quick and painless with the decision being made on the first server to play all maps on it.
First map was our choice of dm7, not the best of starts but could have been worse, we were always chasing the game by around 20 frags till we finally levelled it out, malc kept crashing out which was causing major problems as he was calling the plays and with 1 minute on the clock and 1 frag in our favour he crashed again leaving us a little unsure, it obviously wasnt to be as we ended up rushing ra and getting germaned in the process, missing out on what should have been a win for us, 128-140.
Next map was ospdm5, n5ps choice which i was suprised at expecting the standard dm14, if you thought germans were bad on dm14 for hidey shit then i was not suprised when they spent all game on osp5 hugging walls and much to my frustration i played like a lemon because of it.
Sunday is jolt day and with the easy game gone it was another tough match against a now ec clan, cs! it would be a bit of an understatement to say they are a little more practiced than us and gave pzz a very good game before ours (1-1).
First map cpm4, we fell behind by around 25 frags and were slowly falling to the point of no return, a few quads later and some nice coaching from malc we found ourselves pushing cs to the final seconds however they managed to hide it out to win 107-101, gg!
Second map dm14tmp, a much closer affair right from the start, we were always chasing and neither team really managed to open up a lead, the final score after a close game 88-89.
This week we have LSR in bwdml and another german clan ibt in clanbase.

In better news, it's only a matter of hours before z3on gets broadband! This leaves only poor little dawg as our sole ISDN representative.
I'm looking forward to watching z3on P-W-N on a decent connection... if he's not too busy shandying himself up in the park.

German'ed
|
Been a quiet week, with a default win in Jolt and a postponement in BW. Without my frankly superb q3 skillz as a benchmark, a fairly strong ek team took on the german clan n5p in our first opencup match. We'd had some decent warmups for the game against cs and ndc, but by all accounts had figured against the anal german style of q3 play. The UK/Benelux style of q3 is really completely different to the German gameplay, as we found last year when taking down class act homos HF. A pity that we couldn't overcome the even more batty n5p in what was not only a clan of dull q3 players but also a victory for a style of q3 that would make the pink gzd team of 2002 look like Jean Claude Van Damme in a butch and absolutely not gay movie.
(Too much pub - I am a bit pissed)
