Jolt Q3 3rd Gen Map Win
(comments)
Originally 911, InD, with an unsuccessful attempt to use a boy band image in their move into quake 3 from a 17 member strong successful hat clan in the late 1980's; renamed themselves to Indestructible for the sole chance of playing the mighty EK in Jolt q3 league.

The pre-match banter was heated, with a lot of psychological warfare by both sides trying to unsettle each other. It's fair to say EK's nerve did waver a little here, but it was down to the positive attitude of z3on which saw us through.

The first map was a new one for us, the fabled ospdm6; the starting line-up of myself, z3on, raw and sd - with additional support by carn as coach.

It's fair to say the start of the map was a little ropey from our point of view; suffering slightly from toned rail aim from our Benelux counterparts. Eventually we pulled back slightly focusing on securing the quads having fallen slightly behind.

Using this, and some 'cuntluck' which we keep for games like this, we slowly caught up until we were only a few frags behind.

It was at this point that z3on decided to attempt the old snaps 400 tweak, and was promptly kicked from the server for 2 minutes. Good to see punkbuster catching this slip up so swiftly.

After a few seconds of deliberating of whether or not to wait, Carn was summoned to join and the match resumed, with z3on joining to coach us shortly after.

It's probably true that even before Carn had joined we'd been gathering our momentum teamplay wise, sd being calmed by the knowledge I was on voice comms support for him if needed. The latter half of this map saw us successfully securing red armour with heavy pushing out to rail.

The final score 107-95 ish to us.

---------

The second map ospdm5 was one we've also only played a couple of times before and are really still learning our way around it. SD now swapped for z3on as coach leaving the lineup of myself, raw, carn, z3on to play.

Once started, I took the first opportunity to show sd a hiding place which I'd found on that map the day before. Both quite happy with this, I resumed to play the map looking after the quad YA and RL nearby.

There was a high degree of mega control on this map, I believe a partnership between z3on and sd as coach which will have confused our opponents, and no doubt was also a discussion point for the packed GTV.

After taking the lead, the InD deficit of map control was worked on to our advantage. Resulting in a 119-95 scoreline ish.

Well played all, and thanks to the admin in this game. GG InD, hope the game was worth the wait :)

Quiet week
It's been a quiet week for one reason or another, so we've been amusing ourselves with teaching z3on AS-level Physics and playing Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory.

Barrysworld: it's division 2 playoff week, so no game for us this Wednesday. Should be some interesting games on GTV though: I recall our playoff games a couple of seasons ago were mighty tight.

Jolt: we didn't have a game on Sunday due to 2eX choosing to leave the league in disgrace rather than try and rebuild a reputation tarnished by alleged aliasing an lying to admins. It was sad to see that instead of answering any of the questions posed, certain individuals within the clan decided to launch a groundless attack on EK, although, sensibly, Oxi has deleted the quite frankly wrong post by the dim-witted Fuure from the Jolt website. Any remnants of credibility for these brush-wielding tar painters was with their promise to fulfil their adminning responsibilities for the season. They didn't show up. Good riddance.

RTCW:ET: Initially, I think this is pretty good. I feel the same way I do about this game at the moment as when RA3 came out. Some public server games are great: evenly balanced teams of players who are familiar with the genre but new to the maps and strategies. How well the game will fare when it comes to more serious clan games remains to be seen, but for now I highly recommend you download the game from one of the links below and use All-Seeing Eye or the decent in-game browser to get playing.

BW final week
Romano is the daddy, and Nailed daddied EK in the final game of the BW season tonight. Without the luxuries of being able to pick a team (exams, night-shift, ER and being cut off by ISP) and without a coach, it was a tall order against a Nailed side who have developed well over the season.

DM7: N 151-121 EK
CPM4: N 143-88 EK

The result means that we're relegated from division one, so we'll see if fate is going to dump us in division two obscurity or if we'll bounce back up.

Well after a frustrating game, it was nice of someone to relay some of the goings on in GTV. Apparently a two (or more) extreme kowards, were at it again following EK like infatuated little girls and talking out of their asses to amuse the masses. The masses weren't too amused though, and put these ass clowns into their proper place LoL!!1! Ahh where would q3 be without the jokers and clowns? Well it certainly made my day knowing that we are popular hoorah!

Sunday's Jolt game with 2eX should be interesting :)

Jolt climax
Just watched a very tense dm7 game from an IRC scorebot, thanks to a q3-less PC leaving me unable to connect to GTV. Playing cs was never going to be easy in a week where the majority of our team had exams and our midweek practice (read: BW game) was off due to rp< being a dead clan. The positive news was the return to activity of war18, and although he hasn't played q3 in a loooong time (installing q3 today), he was still an obvious choice to replace an absent sd for the first map.

After a server change (due to war18 having cd key issues) the game started. Our disorganisation gifted cs an early lead, and we seemed to be playing catchup (again) for pretty much the whole map. cs would open up a lead, up to 30 frags at one point, only for ek to fight back and close it. The teams were tied, amazingly, at the 20 min mark with ek in the driving seat and we managed to build a small lead for the first time in the map. However, cs clawed back a small lead and managed to hold on for a tight two frag win.

DM12 saw the arrival of sd, but we had a minor scare when we prodx and sd realised they hadn't downloaded the map (blame a hectic exam schedule rather than our excellent forward planning, thx) and the threat of default loomed. Equally bad was the return of war18's CD key issue, meaning he was unable to get on the server. With Blowfish out of contention due to his 11pm kick-out, we were relying on ISDN supertoker z3on and eurodx, who confessed he'd never played dm12 in his life.

Fortunately, cs were merciful and played cookie, meaning the game was a lot closer than it should have been. A low scoring game, with ek playing catch-up again resulted in a loss 74:89.

All in all, while it's disappointing to lose a map we should have won on paper, I think the result is a promising sign for ek to come. With exams over soon (next week for most, if I remember correctly), we may manage to get in more than just league games a week. The return of Mark18 to activity is a positive sign, since he was the architect of some great play from the clan in days gone by. Add to that the possibility of z3on on ADSL, and the future looks red and blue :)

In terms of Jolt this season, we've not quite handed the title to cs on a plate, but certainly made life a lot easier for them. While it would be nice to rely on nvr doing us a favour, I think I'd prefer a "clean" win of the title next season when we're (hopefully) more organised and (hopefully) a better team.

WP cs, GL with the rest of the season. WP ek, let's get active \o/

Exams
We've got a fair few members doing exams now (or waiting for results), to which I offer a big:

GOOD LUCK!

Just be thankful you don't like have to have exams every three years until you retire... :)

More Jolt
A pretty much top of the table clash tonight with us taking on nvr who were last season’s runners up to Fury.

First map was ospdm6, a reasonable start for both teams with RA changing hands by the minute with nvr holding onto a small few frag lead up until the mid way mark, eventually we evened the scores for more or less the last time and edged out a reasonably safe lead to take the map 131-112.

The second map was to be dm14tmp, a quick start from us edging out by a couple of frags but soon closed down and leveled by nvr left it reasonably close up until mid way, we pushed out a small lead and then built on it at powerups with some pretty decent control of ra, battlesuit and a fair few quads to win the map 146-124.

GG's nvr and wp ek!

x4 BWDML
, 'As Bigfoot said in his review, the season starts here for ek, having had to play back to back games against top half teams it hasn’t been an easy season for us, tonight we took on x4 our first game against a bottom half placed clan but by no means any easy one.

The first map was ospdm5 and again I cant stress enough how much we hate it, that aside we got a pretty grim start but managed to hold rail for most of the game with x4 standing off it and only attacking at quads, I think we have more ourselves to blame for this map as I felt our quad control was quite poor, credit to x4 though as there tp especially over quads looked quite good, x4 ended up comfortable winners 140-90.

Next map ospdm6 we don’t hate as much but still not to fond of it, a much better start for us this time saw us edge out a couple of frags lead, x4 pushed though and soon found themselves 10 or so frags ahead, Malc on teamspeak was confident we could match them though and coached superbly and really made the difference with timing some nice attacks on quad, closing the gap to just a couple of frags, on 18 mins to hear ‘teams are tied’ was a bit of an incentive to push a bit harder in the remaining time to try secure the point (which we did well) to record our first point in division 1!, ek win 125-115.

In other news Blowfish has taken the credit for folding RP< who sadly pulled out of all leagues last night.

Week in review
Wednesday's BW vs aAa was the usual pounding. Not sure on the scores, but I'll add them when the BWDML website is back up.

Sunday brought us our Jolt game with rp. Having arranged for our token euro to be present for the encounter, we were more than a little miffed when less than 10 mins before the game was due to start, rp asked for a postponement. When aAa asked to postpone on Wednesday, the odour of rat was strong - it turned out they did have a full team ready to play. Bluff called. rp had two players on dodgy pings, one on IRC who wouldn't do us the honour of turning up on the server, and two who had "gone out" - nice. Whether or not the dodgy pings were genuine or a result of some kazaaing, I guess we'll never know. What is for certain is that abusing a clan is unlikely to leave its members receptive to generosity, and so we took the default win (first time ever afaik) to give rp an extra 40 mins to troll Quake news sites.

History never repeats.

UPDATE: due to inaccurate reporting, we have decided to give our teaboy the sack. Rumour has it that he will rejoin 2eK
